Assistant/Associate Scientist in Musculoskeletal Biology

The Bone & Joint Center at Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) in Detroit, MI is seeking an exceptional individual to join our research team as an assistant/associate scientist (i.e., analogous to an assistant/associate professor). The successful applicant will have earned a PhD in biomedical sciences or a related field and will have postdoctoral research experience. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests that are broadly in the area of musculoskeletal health and disease, including cell and molecular biology, epi/genetics and biochemistry, or related areas of expertise. The individual who fills this position will join a multidisciplinary team of investigators with complementary research programs examining various aspects of the musculoskeletal system and will be expected to develop an externally funded research program.

The Bone & Joint Center has well-equipped facilities for cellular/molecular biology, biochemistry, histology, biomechanics, motion analysis, computational mechanics, and 3D imaging. Scientists in the Bone & Joint Center have a strong history of collaboration with the departments of Orthopaedic Surgery, Radiology, Public Health Science, Neurology, Endocrinology, and Rheumatology at HFHS. The Bone & Joint Center occupies approximately 15,000 square feet in Wayne State University’s state-of-the-art Integrative Biosciences Center (www.ibio.wayne.edu), which affords additional opportunity for collaboration and adjunct affiliation with the Wayne State University community. HFHS continues to be one of the leading research hospitals in the nation, with scientists across all research programs at HFHS securing nearly $115 million in external grant funding in 2020.
